Henry John Stock
Von Blake beeinflusster Visionär
Henry John Stock wurde an den Schulen der Royal Academy ausgebildet und stellte viele Jahre lang in der Akademie und anderswo aus. Er scheint seinen Lebensunterhalt mit der Malerei von Porträts verdient zu haben, obwohl sein wahres Interesse imaginativen Themen galt, die in einem Stil dargestellt wurden, der den Einfluss von William Blake und G. F. Watts nahelegt. Möglicherweise empfand er eine besondere Identifikation mit Blake. Wie Blake wurde er in Soho geboren, und er lebte später in Felpham in Sussex, wo Blake die Jahre 1800–1803 unter der Patronage von William Hayley verbracht hatte.
