Henry John Stock
Peintre visionnaire influencé par Blake
Henry John Stock a étudié aux écoles de la Royal Academy et a exposé à l'Académie et ailleurs pendant de nombreuses années. Il semble avoir gagné sa vie en peignant des portraits, bien que son véritable intérêt résidât dans des sujets imaginatifs exprimés dans un style qui suggère l'influence de William Blake et de G. F. Watts. Il est possible qu'il ait ressenti un sentiment particulier d'identification avec Blake. Comme Blake, il est né à Soho, et il a vécu plus tard à Felpham dans le Sussex, où Blake avait passé les années 1800-1803 sous le patronage de William Hayley.
