ブレイク影響の幻想的画家
ヘンリー・ジョン・ストックはロイヤル・アカデミー・スクールズで修業し、長年にわたり同アカデミーや他の場所で作品を展示した。彼は肖像画を描いて生計を立てていたようだが、真の関心は想像力豊かな主題にあり、その様式はウィリアム・ブレイクおよびG. F. ワッツの影響を示唆している。彼はブレイクとの間に特別な同一意識を抱いていた可能性がある。ブレイクと同様、彼はソーホーで生まれ、後年にはサセックスのフェルパムに住んでいたが、ブレイクは1800年から1803年までウィリアム・ヘイリーの庇護の下でそこで過ごしていた。
