Henry John Stock
Visionair schilder beïnvloed door Blake
Henry John Stock kreeg zijn opleiding aan de scholen van de Royal Academy en exposeerde vele jaren in de Academie en elders. Hij lijkt zijn brood te hebben verdiend met het schilderen van portretten, hoewel zijn ware belangstelling uitging naar fantasierijke onderwerpen, uitgedrukt in een stijl die de invloed van William Blake en G. F. Watts suggereert. Mogelijk voelde hij een bijzondere verbondenheid met Blake. Net als Blake werd hij geboren in Soho, en hij woonde later in Felpham in Sussex, waar Blake de jaren 1800-1803 had doorgebracht onder de beschermheerschap van William Hayley.
