Henry Shaw était un dessinateur architectural, graveur, enlumineur et antiquaire anglais. Shaw est né à Londres le 4 juillet 1800 et a d'abord développé son talent pour le dessin. Il a été élu membre de la Society of Antiquaries of London en 1833. Il est mort à Broxbourne, dans le Hertfordshire, le 12 juin 1873. Shaw was employed by John Britton on his Cathedral Antiquities of England, supplying illustrations of Wells Cathedral and Gloucester. In 1823 he published A Series of Details of Gothic Architecture, and in 1829, with plates drawn and engraved by himself, The History and Antiquities of the Chapel at Luton Park; the florid Gothic architecture of Luton Park was destroyed by fire in 1843. Il a contribué par des articles aux Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries, notamment un « Compte rendu des vestiges d'un pavement en carreaux récemment découverts dans l'enceinte de l'abbaye de Chertsey, dans le Surrey » (Proceedings, 1856, iii, p. 269–77). Il a édité en 1848 une réédition du « Booke of sundry Draughtes principally seruing for Glaziers, and not impertinent for Plasterers and Gardeners » de Walter Gidde, publié à l'origine en 1615. Il a également conçu ou adapté, et gravé sur bois, les lettres initiales et toutes les parties décoratives de l'édition du Nouveau Testament publiée par Longman en 1864.
