Henry Shaw era un disegnatore architettonico, incisore, miniaturista e antiquario inglese. Shaw nacque a Londra il 4 luglio 1800 e sviluppò inizialmente la sua abilità nel disegno. Fu eletto Fellow della Society of Antiquaries of London nel 1833. Morì a Broxbourne, nell'Hertfordshire, il 12 giugno 1873. Shaw was employed by John Britton on his Cathedral Antiquities of England, supplying illustrations of Wells Cathedral and Gloucester. In 1823 he published A Series of Details of Gothic Architecture, and in 1829, with plates drawn and engraved by himself, The History and Antiquities of the Chapel at Luton Park; the florid Gothic architecture of Luton Park was destroyed by fire in 1843. Ha contribuito con articoli agli Atti della Società degli Antiquari, tra cui una «Relazione sui resti di un pavimento in piastrelle recentemente scoperto all'interno del recinto dell'abbazia di Chertsey, nel Surrey» (Proceedings, 1856, iii, pp. 269–77). Nel 1848 ha curato una ristampa del «Booke of sundry Draughtes principally seruing for Glaziers, and not impertinent for Plasterers and Gardeners» di Walter Gidde, pubblicato originariamente nel 1615. Ha inoltre progettato o adattato, e inciso su legno, le lettere iniziali e tutte le parti decorative dell'edizione del Nuovo Testamento pubblicata da Longman nel 1864.
