亨利·托馬斯·阿爾肯是一位英國畫家和版畫家，主要以體育題材和馬車場景的漫畫家和插畫家而聞名。他繪畫和創作最多產的時期是在1816年至1831年之間。 阿爾肯於1785年10月12日出生在威斯敏斯特的蘇荷區，並於11月6日在皮卡迪利的聖詹姆斯教堂受洗。他是體育藝術家塞繆爾·阿爾肯的第三個兒子。他的兩個兄弟是喬治·阿爾肯和小塞繆爾·阿爾肯，後者也是一位藝術家。1789年，阿爾肯一家從蘇荷區搬到了貝德福德廣場的弗朗西斯東街2號。 年輕的亨利最初師從其父，隨後跟隨微型畫家約翰·托馬斯·巴伯·博蒙特（1774–1841），也稱J.
