Jacob George Strutt

Jacob George Strutt fu un pittore e incisore britannico di ritratti e paesaggi nello stile di John Constable. Era il marito della scrittrice Elizabeth Strutt e padre del pittore, viaggiatore e archeologo Arthur John Strutt. Strutt nacque il 4 agosto 1784 a Colchester, nell'Essex, uno degli otto figli di Benjamin Strutt e Caroline, nata Pollett. L'8 novembre 1813 sposò a Londra Elizabeth Byron, dalla quale ebbe quattro figli; il loro secondogenito, Arthur John Strutt, nacque nel 1819. Strutt si trasferì a Losanna, in Svizzera, intorno al 1830. Con il figlio Arthur viaggiò in Francia e Svizzera dal 1835 al 1837, e successivamente in Italia; stabilirono uno studio a Roma. Tornò in Inghilterra nel 1851 e morì a Roma nel 1864 o nel 1867.
