Jacob Matham
Famoso incisore olandese
Jacob Matham, di Haarlem, fu un celebre incisore e disegnatore a penna. Era il figliastro e allievo del pittore e disegnatore Hendrik Goltzius, e cognato dell'incisore Simon van Poelenburgh, avendone sposato la sorella, Marijtgen. Realizzò diverse incisioni tratte dai dipinti di Peter Paul Rubens tra il 1611 e il 1615, e anche una serie tratta dalle opere di Pieter Aertsen. Nel 1613, l'incisore Jan van de Velde fu posto come apprendista presso di lui. Fu padre di Jan, Theodor e Adriaen Matham, quest'ultimo a sua volta un incisore di rilievo.
