Jakob Alt
Peintre paysagiste autrichien
Jakob Alt était un peintre et lithographe allemand. Alt est né à Francfort-sur-le-Main en 1789, où il reçut sa première éducation artistique. Plus tard, il déménagea à Vienne et entra à l'Académie. Il devint rapidement un peintre de paysage renommé et effectua divers voyages à travers l'Autriche et l'Italie, peignant, au fur et à mesure, des vues dans les environs du Danube et dans la ville de Vienne. Plus tard dans sa vie, Alt peignit beaucoup à l'aquarelle ; il était également lithographe. En 1830, le futur empereur Ferdinand Ier d'Autriche lança un projet pour commander des peintures des plus belles vues de l'Empire. Alt et son fils aîné, Rudolf von Alt, peignirent environ 170 des 300 œuvres exécutées avant que le projet ne prenne fin en 1849. Il est mort à Vienne en 1872.
