Jakob Alt
Pintor paisagista austríaco
Jakob Alt foi um pintor e litógrafo alemão. Alt nasceu em Frankfurt am Main em 1789, onde recebeu sua primeira educação artística. Mais tarde mudou-se para Viena e entrou na Academia. Logo se tornou um notável pintor de paisagens e fez várias viagens pela Áustria e Itália, pintando, ao longo do caminho, vistas nas proximidades do Danúbio e na cidade de Viena. Na vida posterior, Alt pintou muito em aquarela; também foi litógrafo. Em 1830, o futuro imperador Fernando I da Áustria iniciou um projeto para encomendar pinturas das vistas mais bonitas do Império. Alt e seu filho mais velho, Rudolf von Alt, pintaram cerca de 170 das 300 obras executadas antes de o projeto terminar em 1849. Morreu em Viena em 1872.
