James Holland
Maestro acuarelista de Venecia
James Holland (1799 – 1870) fue un pintor inglés de flores, paisajes, arquitectura y temas marinos, e ilustrador de libros. Trabajó tanto al óleo como en acuarela y fue miembro de la Royal Watercolour Society. A lo largo de su vida expuso, además de sus contribuciones a la Watercolour Society, 32 cuadros en la Royal Academy, 91 en el British Institution y 108 en la Society of British Artists. Aunque generalmente clasificado como pintor de acuarela, era igualmente hábil al óleo. Fue uno de los más grandes coloristas de la escuela inglesa, y sus cuadros, especialmente los de Venecia, aunque descuidados en vida, se hicieron muy codiciados en los años posteriores a su muerte.
