James Lambert of Lewes

James Lambert senior wurde 1725 in Sussex geboren. Er war der Sohn von John Lambert (1690-1764) und seiner Frau Susannah. Die Familie Lambert zog um 1730 nach Lewes und lebte im Cliffe-Viertel der Stadt. James wird leicht mit seinem Verwandten James Lambert junior (1741-1799) verwechselt, der offenbar sein Neffe und nicht sein Sohn war. Beide schufen zahlreiche Gemälde von Kirchen, Burgen, Abteien, Landhäusern und lokalen Ansichten in Sussex. Die beiden Männer arbeiteten auch zusammen und signierten ihre Werke manchmal einfach mit "James Lambert".
