James Lambert de Lewes

James Lambert senior nació en Sussex en 1725. Era hijo de John Lambert (1690-1764) y su esposa Susannah. La familia Lambert se mudó a Lewes alrededor de 1730 y vivió en el área de Cliffe de la ciudad. James se confunde fácilmente con su pariente James Lambert junior (1741-1799), quien aparentemente era su sobrino y no su hijo. Ambos produjeron numerosas pinturas de iglesias, castillos, abadías, casas de campo y vistas locales de Sussex. Los dos hombres también trabajaron juntos y a veces firmaban sus obras simplemente como "James Lambert".
