James Lambert di Lewes

James Lambert senior nacque nel Sussex nel 1725. Era figlio di John Lambert (1690-1764) e di sua moglie Susannah. La famiglia Lambert si trasferì a Lewes intorno al 1730 e visse nella zona di Cliffe della città. James viene spesso confuso con il suo parente James Lambert junior (1741-1799), che era apparentemente suo nipote piuttosto che suo figlio. Entrambi produssero numerosi dipinti di chiese, castelli, abbazie, case di campagna e vedute locali del Sussex. I due uomini lavorarono anche insieme e talvolta firmavano le loro opere semplicemente come "James Lambert".
