James Lambert de Lewes

James Lambert senior nasceu em Sussex em 1725. Ele era filho de John Lambert (1690-1764) e de sua esposa Susannah. A família Lambert mudou-se para Lewes por volta de 1730 e viveu na área de Cliffe da cidade. James é facilmente confundido com seu parente James Lambert junior (1741-1799), que aparentemente era seu sobrinho e não seu filho. Ambos produziram numerosas pinturas de igrejas, castelos, abadias, casas de campo e vistas locais de Sussex. Os dois homens também trabalharam juntos e às vezes assinavam suas obras simplesmente como "James Lambert".
