James Pollard
Malte britische Kutschen
James Pollard war ein britischer Maler, der für seine Postkutschen-, Fuchsjagd- und Pferdeszenen bekannt war. Pollard wurde in Baynes Spa Fields (später in Exmouth Street umbenannt) in Islington geboren, als Sohn des Malers und Verlegers Robert Pollard (1755–1838). Zwischen 1821 und 1839 stellte James Pollard an der Royal Academy aus. Er stellte 1824 und 1844 an der British Institution aus. Während seiner Karriere arbeitete er auch mit John Frederick Herring Sr. an mehreren Pferderennbildern zusammen, bei denen er die Hintergründe und Zuschauer malte, während Herring die Pferde malte. Viele seiner Kompositionen wurden als Aquatinten veröffentlicht, obwohl er, im Gegensatz zu seinem Vater, nur wenige Platten selbst radierte. James Pollard starb 1867 in Chelsea.
