James Pollard
Schilderde Britse koetsen
James Pollard was een Brits schilder bekend om zijn postkoets-, vosjacht- en paardenscènes. Pollard werd geboren in Baynes Spa Fields (later hernoemd tot Exmouth Street) in Islington, als zoon van de schilder en uitgever Robert Pollard (1755–1838). Tussen 1821 en 1839 exposeerde James Pollard aan de Royal Academy. Hij exposeerde aan de British Institution in 1824 en 1844. Gedurende zijn carrière werkte hij ook samen met John Frederick Herring Sr. aan verschillende paardenrensschilderijen waarbij hij de achtergronden en toeschouwers schilderde terwijl Herring de paarden schilderde. Veel van zijn composities werden als aquatinten gepubliceerd, hoewel hij, in tegenstelling tot zijn vader, slechts enkele platen zelf graveerde. James Pollard overleed in 1867 in Chelsea.
