Jan Bukowski
Master of typography and book illustration
Jan Bukowski was an illustrator, painter, draftsman and stained glass artist associated with the Young Poland movement. He is best known for his artistic activity in the field of typography and book illustration. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Munich, Paris and Italy. He was one of the founders of the Polish Applied Arts Society. From 1904 he was the artistic director of the Jagiellonian University printing house, and from 1912 a professor at the School of Artistic Industry in Krakow, which was a department of the State Industrial School. He collaborated with many artists from Poland, including Stanisław Wyspiański.
