ヤン・ウェーニクス
狩猟静物画の巨匠
ヤン・ウェーニクスまたはヨハンニス・ウェーニクスはオランダの画家である。彼は父ヤン・バプティスト・ウェーニクスと従兄弟のメルキオール・デ・ホンデコーテルによって共同で教育を受けた。父と同様に彼は多様な主題に取り組んだが、彼の名声は主に死んだ獲物や狩猟の場面の絵画によるものである。このジャンルの多くの絵画は以前、年長のウェーニクスの作品とされていたが、現在では一般的に息子の作品と見なされている。ウェーニクスは1664年と1668年にユトレヒトの画家組合のメンバーであった。20歳の時、ヤン・ウェーニクスは処理の広がりと色彩の豊かさにおいて父と競い、その後父を凌駕した。1697年、彼は造船、科学、要塞建築の技術を学ぶために共和国を訪れていたピョートル大帝の肖像画を描いた。アムステルダムでウェーニクスは、しばしばキャンバスに描かれた壁画で私邸を装飾するために雇われた。
