Jean-Jacques de Boissieu
Ultimo maestro dell'acquaforte
Jean-Jacques de Boissieu fu un disegnatore, acquafortista e incisore francese. Boissieu nacque a Lione e studiò presso l'École Gratuite de Dessin nella sua città natale, ma fu principalmente autodidatta. Iniziò a realizzare stampe nel periodo 1758–64, poi si recò in Italia al seguito dell'ambasciatore Louis Alexandre, duca di La Rochefoucauld d'Enville (1743–1792); incontrò Voltaire durante il viaggio e tornò con una collezione di disegni di paesaggi. Jean-Jacques de Boissieu realizzò alcune tavole per l'Enciclopedia di Diderot e d'Alembert. Continuò a produrre stampe a Lione, guadagnandosi la reputazione di ultimo rappresentante della più antica tradizione dell'acquaforte. Boissieu realizzò molte acquaforti delle campagne romane e olandesi, nonché della campagna intorno a Lione. Fu anche molto ricercato come incisore riproduttivo. I suoi allievi includevano Louis Nicolas Philippe Auguste de Forbin e suo nipote Claude Victor de Boissieu.
