讓-約瑟夫-克薩維埃·比多
首位入選法蘭西學院的風景畫家
讓-約瑟夫-克薩維埃·比多是一位法國畫家。 比多出生於卡龐特拉市，最初在里昂跟隨其兄長讓-皮埃爾-克薩維埃學習繪畫。1783年，他前往巴黎，在那裡贏得了一位名為杜拉克的藝術品商人和香水商的青睞。後者資助了比多在義大利的旅行，他在羅馬生活了五年，並廣泛遊歷。在那座城市裡，他與法國藝術界的大多數聯繫人都是歷史畫家。 1790年，比多返回巴黎；1791年，他首次參加沙龍展。此後，他定期參展。1792年，他開始接受官方委託，並於1823年成為首位入選法蘭西美術學院的風景畫家。1825年，他獲頒榮譽軍團勳章。他的聲譽大約在此時開始下滑；作為沙龍評審團成員，他被視為阻礙新一代風景畫家進入沙龍的主要人物，其中最具代表性的是泰奧多爾·盧梭。比多遭到媒體的猛烈抨擊，結果導致其作品無法售出。到他去世時，已近乎貧困潦倒。 1800年，弗朗索瓦-阿德里安·布瓦爾迪耶將他的歌劇《巴格達的哈里發》題獻給比多。 卡米耶·柯羅在比達爾的職業生涯中曾是他的仰慕者之一。
