Pionier bunter Tagesfeuerwerke

Jinta Hirayama war ein unternehmungslustiger Pyrotechniker, der 1877 in Yokohama die Firma Hirayama Fireworks gründete. Hirayama stammt aus der Provinz Mikawa (dem heutigen Präfektur Aichi). Japanische Feuerwerke erzeugten damals hauptsächlich nur gedämpfte Orangetöne, aber Hirayama wird zugeschrieben, einer der Ersten gewesen zu sein, die hellere Farben einsetzten. Als Ulysses S. Grant 1879 Japan besuchte, war es Hirayamas Firma, die für die Feuerwerksshow verantwortlich war. 1883 wurde Hirayama der erste Japaner, der jemals ein Patent in den Vereinigten Staaten anmeldete – zwei Jahre bevor Japan überhaupt ein Patentregister hatte – für „Tagesfeuerwerke". Hirayama verstarb im Jahr 1900.
