Johann Melchior Roos fu un pittore barocco tedesco. Secondo il RKD, nacque a Heidelberg e imparò a dipingere da suo padre, il pittore paesaggista Johann Heinrich Roos. Dal 1682 al 1685 studiò all'accademia di disegno della Confrerie Pictura all'Aia, e nel 1686 si recò a Roma, dove lavorò con il fratello Philipp Peter Roos (Rosa di Tivoli) in Italia. È noto per i suoi paesaggi italianizzanti con animali e per i ritratti.
