Johann Wolfgang Baumgartner era un pittore rococò austro-tedesco. Nacque come Johann Wolfgang Baumgartner in Tirolo e imparò la pittura su vetro a Salisburgo. Si trasferì ad Augusta e lavorò come pittore su vetro. L'affresco sul soffitto del Santuario della Santa Croce delle ex montagne di Klosters è considerato la sua opera più grande e importante.
