Johannes Leemans
Meister der Jagd-Stillleben-Trompe-l'œil
Johannes Leemans war ein Maler des niederländischen Goldenen Zeitalters. Laut Houbraken, der nicht angab, welchen Bruder er meinte, verdiente er seinen Lebensunterhalt profitabel mit der Anfertigung von Trompe-l'œil-Gemälden von Jagdutensilien, Vogelkäfigen und Waffen. Laut dem RKD war er der jüngere Bruder des Malers Anthonie Leemans, und beide sind für ihre Stillleben mit Jagdutensilien und Vanitas-Motive bekannt, die aufgrund ihrer Popularität Einfluss auf Christoffel Pierson hatten. Johannes war neben seiner Tätigkeit als Maler auch Weinhändler. Er lebte und arbeitete in Den Haag, ist aber 1671 in Amsterdam registriert.
