約翰·埃姆斯是一位英國藝術家。埃姆斯出生於諾福克郡的布洛菲爾德，是藝術家亨利·威廉·埃姆斯之子。他成為了一名狂熱的獵人，並因其馬匹和狗的畫作而聞名，尤其是獵狐犬和梗犬。他於1866年開始多次在皇家藝術學院展出作品。他的畫作簽名為「Jno Emms」。 1880年，他與漢普郡林德赫斯特的范妮·普里默結婚。這對夫婦曾在倫敦居住過一段時間，但於1881年返回林德赫斯特，建造了一座名為The Firs的大型住宅和工作室，埃姆斯在此度過了餘生。他於林德赫斯特逝世。 他畫的丹迪丁蒙梗「卡勒姆」掛在蘇格蘭國家美術館。1919年，這隻狗的主人詹姆斯·考恩·史密斯向蘇格蘭國家美術館捐贈了55,000英鎊（相當於2019年的2,500,000英鎊），並附帶一項要求，責成該館必須永久在牆上展示這幅畫。
