John Morgan
Celebre pittore di genere
John Morgan è stato un artista di genere inglese di successo. Nato a Pentonville, nel nord di Londra, Morgan studiò alla School of Design di Londra e si formò anche a Parigi sotto la guida di Thomas Couture (1815–1879). Mentre viveva ad Aylesbury nel 1861, ottenne fama con i suoi dipinti The Jury e The Country Auction. Membro della Society of British Artists (SBA), il suo lavoro fu influenzato da Thomas Webster e William Powell Frith. Suo figlio Frederick Morgan fu un artista altrettanto popolare, noto soprattutto per la sua opera «His Turn Next», famosamente utilizzata dalla campagna pubblicitaria del sapone Pears. Morì a Hastings.
