John Samuel Pughe

John Samuel Pughe è stato un vignettista politico statunitense nato in Galles, noto soprattutto per le sue illustrazioni sulla rivista Puck. John Samuel Pughe è nato a Dolgelley, nel Merionethshire, in Galles, ed è stato portato in America dai suoi genitori quando aveva due anni. Ha studiato arte alla Cooper Union. J. S. Pughe ha illustrato notizie di attualità per il New York Recorder, Brooklyn Life e l'edizione di Brooklyn del World da giovane. Ha iniziato a lavorare per la rivista Puck nel 1894. È stato un collaboratore regolare fino alla sua ultima vignetta, pubblicata nel dicembre 1908. Pughe morì nel 1909, all'età di 38 anni, a Lakehurst, nel New Jersey, dove aveva trascorso diversi mesi per migliorare la sua salute.
