Joseph Crawhall

Joseph Crawhall era un artista inglese nato a Morpeth, nel Northumberland. Crawhall era il quarto figlio e il secondo maschio di Joseph Crawhall II e Margaret Boyd. Crawhall si specializzò nella pittura di animali e uccelli. Nacque il 20 agosto 1861 a Morpeth, nel Northumberland. Si formò al King's College di Londra prima di recarsi a Parigi per lavorare con Aimé Morot nel 1882. Negli anni 1880 e 1890, il suo lavoro fu associato ai Glasgow Boys. Fu fortemente influenzato dagli impressionisti, e la sua opera, come la loro, fu rifiutata dall'establishment artistico, nel suo caso nella forma della Royal Scottish Academy. Nel 1887/88 visitò Tangeri con Pollock Nisbet, Robert Alexander e il figlio di Robert, Edwin. Negli anni 1880 viaggiò per tutto il Marocco e la Spagna, abbandonando la pittura a olio e passando all'acquerello con una tavolozza più chiara. Morì a Londra nel maggio 1913.
