Jozef Brandt
Maestro de escenas bélicas
Józef Brandt fue un pintor polaco, representante de la Escuela de Múnich, conocido principalmente por sus pinturas de batallas. Brandt estudió en Varsovia en la escuela de J.N. Leszczynski y en el Instituto de Nobles. En 1858 partió hacia París para estudiar en la École centrale Paris, pero fue persuadido por Juliusz Kossak de abandonar la ingeniería en favor de la pintura. Estudió pintura en Múnich bajo Franz Adam y Karl Piloty y luego abrió su propio estudio. Sus pinturas estudian principalmente la vida militar del siglo XVII, aunque también ha realizado algunos estudios sobre la vida de los campesinos polacos. En 1893, Brandt fue galardonado con la Orden de Isabel la Católica, y en 1898 se convirtió en receptor de la Orden Maximiliana de Baviera para la Ciencia y el Arte.
