Jozef Hanula
Pionier van Slowaakse kinderboekillustraties
Jozef Hanula was een Slowaakse schilder. Hij studeerde aan de Regionale Tekenschool in Boedapest bij Š. Hollósy en aan de Academie voor Schone Kunsten in München. Vanaf 1908 werkte hij ook als boekillustrator, waarbij hij vooral baanbrekend was in de literatuur voor kinderen en jongeren. Hij schilderde de interieurs van katholieke kerken in Banská Bystrica (1935), Banská Bystrica-Sásová (1940), Banská Bystrica-Radvani en andere plaatsen. In 1919 was hij medeoprichter van de Vereniging van Slowaakse Kunstenaars in Martin. In 1941 ontving hij de staatsprijs.
