고바야시 기요치카
메이지 근대화 마지막 우키요에
고바야시 키요치카는 일본 우키요에 화가로, 우키요에 채색 목판화와 신문 삽화로 가장 잘 알려져 있다. 그의 작품은 메이지 시대(1868–1912) 일본이 겪은 급속한 근대화와 서양화를 기록하고 있으며, 서양 미술 기법에서 영감을 받은 명암법인 「코센가(光線画)」[ja]을 활용하고 있다. 그의 작품은 1870년대에 메이지 유신 이후 급증한 적벽돌 건물과 기차를 담은 판화로 처음 대중에게 알려졌다; 1894년에서 1895년 청일전쟁을 담은 그의 판화 또한 인기가 있었다. 이 시기 목판화는 인기를 잃어갔고, 많은 수집가들은 고바야시의 작품을 우키요에의 마지막 중요한 예로 여긴다.
