Lu Xingzhi

Lu Xingzhi(陆行直) (1275—after 1349), courtesy name Jidao(季道), also called Fuzhi(辅之), with the pseudonyms Hutian(壶天) and Hutian Jushi(湖天居士), was from Wujiang (now part of Jiangsu). He was a painter, poet, and collector during the Yuan Dynasty. He came from a prominent family in Fenhu, and his father, Lu Dayou, once served as the superintendent of Confucian studies in Jiangsu and Zhejiang during the Southern Song. In his early years, he studied under the poet Zhang Yan. During the Yuan Dynasty's Dade era, he worked as a compiler at the Hanlin Academy, and later retired back to his hometown during the Huangqing period. He once helped his friend Qian Chongding build a retreat in Shuicun, Fenhu. His surviving artwork includes "Green Parasol Tree and Dark Rocks," and he also collected famous calligraphy pieces like Zhong You's "Recommendation of Jizhi."
