Nelson Greene
Künstler und Mohawk-Tal-Historiker
Nelson Beach Greene war ein amerikanischer Künstler und Redakteur. Seine Mutter war Annie Lydia Beach. Sein Vater, Horace Lester Greene, war Eigentümer des Mohawk Valley Register in Fort Plain. Nelson Greene ging 1887 nach New York City, wo er an der Art Students League Kunst studierte. Nach dem Tod seines Vaters im Jahr 1891 half er seiner Mutter bei der Leitung des Register. 1906 heiratete er die Künstlerin Lillian Currier Steinert. Viele seiner Zeichnungen erschienen in der Zeitschrift Puck. Er gab zahlreiche Publikationen zur Geschichte des Mohawk-Tals heraus, darunter The Old Mohawk Turnpike Book (1924) und History of the Mohawk Valley: Gateway to the West 1614-1925 (1925). Von 1922 bis 1939 war er Redakteur des Fort Plain Standard.
