Nelson Greene
Artiste et historien du Mohawk
Nelson Beach Greene était un artiste et éditeur américain. Sa mère s'appelait Annie Lydia Beach. Son père, Horace Lester Greene, était propriétaire du Mohawk Valley Register à Fort Plain. Nelson Greene est allé à New York en 1887, où il a étudié l'art à l'Art Students League. Après la mort de son père en 1891, il a aidé sa mère à gérer le Register. En 1906, il a épousé l'artiste Lillian Currier Steinert. Nombre de ses dessins ont paru dans le magazine Puck. Il a édité de nombreuses publications sur l'histoire de la vallée de la Mohawk, parmi lesquelles The Old Mohawk Turnpike Book (1924) et History of the Mohawk Valley: Gateway to the West 1614-1925 (1925). Il a été rédacteur en chef du Fort Plain Standard de 1922 à 1939.
