Nicolaes Molenaer

Nicolaes (Klaes) Molenaer fu un pittore paesaggista e disegnatore olandese dell'Età dell'Oro. Molenaer nacque e morì a Haarlem nella famiglia del sarto Jan Mienssen Molenaer e della sua seconda moglie Grietgen Adriaens: ebbero otto figli, di cui non si conosce alcuna data di nascita, poiché la famiglia era cattolica romana e non venne tenuto alcun registro dei battesimi. Secondo il RKD, tra i suoi fratelli c'erano i pittori Bartholomeus e Jan Miense Molenaer. Divenne membro della Gilda di San Luca di Haarlem nel 1651 e pagò le quote annuali fino al 1676. Fu un pittore di paesaggi invernali influenzato da Jacob van Ruisdael.
