ニコラ・ランクレ
フランス摂政期の風俗画の巨匠
ニコラ・ランクレはフランスの画家である。パリに生まれ、オルレアン公が摂政を務めた時代のフランス社会の趣味や作法を反映した軽喜劇の名手であった。 ランクレの最初の師はピエール・デュランでしたが、ワトーとの知り合いと彼への崇拝により、デュランを離れてジロの下に入りました。ワトーはかつてジロの弟子でした。ランクレは1712年から1713年までジロの弟子であり、年長の画家から大きな影響を受け、その典型的な細身の人物像が彼の初期の作品の多くに見られます。ランクレが描いた2枚の絵画はドーフィン広場で展示され、大きな成功を収め、彼の財産の基盤を築きました。また、これらの作品の作者として称賛されていたワトーとの関係を疎遠にしたと言われています。1718年、彼は学士院会員に迎えられ、その後、特にワトーの愛好家の間で非常に尊敬される芸術家となりました。彼はヴェルサイユ宮殿の装飾作品を完成させ、そのスタイルは後にフリードリヒ大王にも人気を博しました。ランクレの人気は、1735年に彼を学士院の顧問に任命するという決定に反映されました。
