Orazio Gentileschi
Naturalisme caravagesque décoratif
Orazio Lomi Gentileschi était un peintre italien. Né en Toscane, il a commencé sa carrière à Rome, peignant dans un style maniériste, une grande partie de son œuvre consistant à peindre les figures au sein des schémas décoratifs d’autres artistes. Après 1600, il fut influencé par le style plus naturaliste du Caravage. Il reçut d’importantes commandes à Fabriano et à Gênes avant de s’installer à Paris à la cour de Marie de Médicis. Il passa la dernière partie de sa vie à la cour de Charles Ier d’Angleterre. Il était le père de la peintre Artemisia Gentileschi.
