Pieter Christoffel Wonder

Pieter Christoffel Wonder era un pittore olandese, attivo in Inghilterra. Wonder era in gran parte autodidatta, realizzando copie dei vecchi maestri, sebbene tra il 1802 e il 1804 abbia frequentato lezioni all'Accademia d'Arte di Düsseldorf. Nel 1807 fondò la "Genootschap Kunstliefde" (Società dell'Amore per l'Arte) a Utrecht insieme ad altri artisti, tra cui Jan Kobell, e servì come direttore. Dal 1823 al 1831, lavorò in Inghilterra, dove divenne noto come pittore di ritratti, ma dipinse anche alcune scene interne e copie di opere di Raffaello.
