Pietro Antoniani
Schilderde uitbarstingen en zeegezichten
Pietro Antoniani was een Italiaanse schilder, voornamelijk van zee- en landschapsgezichten, vaak met figuren, maar ook van historische onderwerpen. Net als zijn tijdgenoot Giacinto Gigante van de volgende generatie, en inspelen op de Britse smaak, waren de exotische vulkaanuitbarstingen van de Vesuvius een populair onderwerp voor de kunstenaar. Hij was waarschijnlijk een leerling van Jacob Philipp Hackert en een voorloper van de School van Posillipo.
