Pintou erupções e marinhas
Pietro Antoniani foi um pintor italiano, principalmente de marinhas e paisagens, frequentemente animadas com figuras, mas também de temas históricos. Como seu contemporâneo Giacinto Gigante da geração seguinte, e atendendo aos gostos britânicos, as erupções vulcânicas exóticas do Vesúvio eram um tema popular para o artista. Ele provavelmente foi aluno de Jacob Philipp Hackert e precursor da Escola de Posillipo.
