Richard Cooper il Vecchio

Richard Cooper il Vecchio era un incisore inglese che lavorò a Edimburgo per la maggior parte della sua carriera. Cooper nacque a Londra e studiò incisione sotto la guida di John Pine. Alla morte del padre, poté visitare l'Italia, dove trascorse diversi anni studiando i maestri, diventando un artista competente e formando una collezione di disegni e stampe. Al suo ritorno in Inghilterra, Cooper si recò a Edimburgo con un certo Sig. Guthrie, dove si stabilì come incisore. Costruì una casa in St. John Street, che decorò con i suoi quadri. Prese degli apprendisti, tra cui Robert Strange. Cooper morì nel 1764 e fu sepolto nel cimitero della chiesa di Canongate, a Edimburgo.
