理查德·戴頓

理查德·迪頓是攝政時期的一位英國藝術家，以其為當時倫敦名人和人物創作的眾多諷刺側面肖像畫而聞名。 他是另一位著名漫畫家羅伯特·迪頓（1752–1814）的兒子和學徒，也是戰爭場景畫家丹尼斯·迪頓和小羅伯特·迪頓的兄弟。羅伯特和理查德·迪頓的作品被視為十九世紀後期《名利場》風格的先驅。 他的《城市與西區》肖像系列始於1817年，並在隨後的十年中出版了一百多幅蝕刻畫。從1828年起，他不再創作新的蝕刻畫，定居並在切爾滕納姆和伍斯特工作，在那裡度過了接下來的二十年，之後返回倫敦。他起初專注於水彩肖像畫，1835年之後則轉向石版肖像畫。 理查德·迪頓於1880年4月13日在哈默史密斯埃爾姆格羅夫3號去世，享年84歲，死因為「前列腺肥大和布萊特氏病」。他的兒子小理查德和喬舒亞也是肖像畫家。
