Sarah Price nació en Bitterly, condado de Shropshire, Inglaterra, aunque se desconocen las fechas exactas de su nacimiento y muerte. Los historiadores asumen que fue educada en casa. Price fue una de las primeras personas en documentar los hongos de la región de Shropshire, una de las áreas menos pobladas de Inglaterra. Creó Ilustraciones de los hongos de nuestros campos y bosques: dibujados a partir de especímenes naturales, volúmenes uno y dos. Contienen litografías coloreadas a mano y vibrantes de ciento treinta especies de hongos. Price incluyó los nombres de los hongos junto con dónde y cuándo crecen. Publicó su obra con el apoyo financiero de más de doscientos suscriptores, entre los cuales se encontraba el director de los Reales Jardines Botánicos de Kew.
