サラ・プライスはイングランドのシュロップシャー州ビタリーで生まれましたが、彼女の正確な生年月日と没年月日は不明です。歴史家は、彼女が自宅で教育を受けたと考えています。プライスは、イングランドで最も人口の少ない地域の一つであるシュロップシャー地方のキノコを記録した初期の人物の一人でした。彼女は『私たちの野原と森の菌類の図解：自然標本から描かれた』第1巻および第2巻を作成しました。これらには、130種のキノコの鮮やかな手彩色リトグラフが含まれています。プライスは、菌類の名前とともに、それらがどこでいつ成長するかを記載しました。彼女は200人以上の購読者の財政的支援を受けてこの作品を出版しましたが、その中にはキュー王立植物園の園長も含まれていました。
