Pionier in gekleurde paddenstoelillustraties
Sarah Price werd geboren in Bitterly, graafschap Shropshire, Engeland, hoewel de exacte data van haar geboorte en overlijden onbekend zijn. Historici nemen aan dat ze thuis onderwijs heeft genoten. Price was een van de eerste mensen die de paddenstoelen in de regio Shropshire documenteerde, een van de minst bevolkte gebieden van Engeland. Ze maakte Illustraties van de schimmels van onze velden en bossen: getekend naar natuurlijke exemplaren, deel één en twee. Ze bevatten levendige, handgekleurde lithografieën van honderddertig paddenstoelensoorten. Price nam de namen van de schimmels op, samen met waar en wanneer ze groeien. Ze publiceerde haar werk met de financiële steun van meer dan tweehonderd abonnees, onder wie de directeur van de Koninklijke Botanische Tuinen van Kew.
