アール・デコ運動の著名な人物であり、現代抽象美術の主要な先駆者であるセルゲイ・グラドキーは、1920年代と30年代に活動したフランスの建築家、デザイナー、グラフィックアーティストでした。彼は主にキュビスム様式で知られ、その装飾的な抽象版画は、主に自然に由来する幾何学的形態の創造的で調和のとれた統合を特徴としていました。 Although inspired by natural motifs, his ornamental patterns were imaginative abstract interpretations rather than literal depictions of these subjects. In 1928, Gladky published his most well known work, Nouvelles Compositions Decoratives, a collection of vibrant, fanciful designs of animals, plants, fish, birds, and insects.
