Suzuki Harunobu
Pioniere della stampa a colori
Suzuki Harunobu fu un artista giapponese specializzato nella stampa xilografica in stile ukiyo-e. Fu un innovatore, il primo a produrre stampe a colori completi (nishiki-e) nel 1765, rendendo obsolete le precedenti tecniche di stampa a due e tre colori. Harunobu utilizzò numerose tecniche particolari e rappresentò una vasta gamma di soggetti, dai poemi classici alle bellezze contemporanee. Come molti artisti del suo tempo, Harunobu realizzò anche diverse shunga, ovvero immagini erotiche. Durante la sua vita e subito dopo la sua morte, molti artisti imitarono il suo stile. Alcuni, come Harushige, si vantavano addirittura della propria capacità di falsificare le opere del grande maestro. Molto della vita di Harunobu rimane sconosciuto.
