鈴木春信
錦絵の創始者
鈴木春信は、浮世絵様式の木版画を手がけた日本のデザイナーであった。彼は革新者であり、1765年に初めて全彩色の版画（錦絵）を制作し、それまでの二色・三色刷りの技法を時代遅れにした。春信は多くの特殊な技法を用い、古典的な詩から当時の美人まで幅広い題材を描いた。当時の多くの芸術家と同様に、春信もまた数多くの春画（エロティックな作品）を制作した。彼の存命中およびその直後には、多くの芸術家が彼の様式を模倣した。春重のような一部の者は、偉大な巨匠の作品を偽作できると自慢さえした。春信の生涯については、多くのことが未だ不明である。
